/?php endif; ?>ROCHESTER, N.Y.---Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, founded in 1871 announces the development of a new Catholic cemetery in Henrietta, N.Y. Located on the northeast corner of the intersection of Pinnacle and Williams Road approximately 1 mile west of Mendon Ponds Park. The 109 acres allows Holy Sepulchre to further its dedication to Christian burial for all members of the Catholic Faith Community. The private purchase of the property occurred in 2006 and was given final approval by the Henrietta Planning Board this month.
“The initial development will provide about 25,ooo in ground burial spaces and a mausoleum will add about 1,500 above ground burial crypts and 800 niches for cremated remains,†said Executive Director, James Weisbeck. “We chose this site to serve the Catholic community in the southeastern part of the county and we appreciate the key partnership and cooperation with the local officials in Henrietta.â€Â
To start, the development will utilize approximately 32 acres, while the remaining land will be used for agricultural purposes until the land is needed. The site will ultimately accommodate about 100,000 burials.
“Henrietta is pleased to welcome Holy Sepulchre to our community. This piece of property is currently ‘green space’ and the cemetery is committed to the continuation of using this land in a green environment as they have with the current Lake Avenue property,†said Michael Yudelson, Henrietta Town Supervisor, “We are very pleased with the plans and know that Holy Sepulchre will serve the needs of our residents and beyond.â€Â
Holy Sepulchre is planning for a landscaped entrance, a decorative stone façade embracing the Pinnacle Road gateway, a large storm water management facility and a water feature to enhance the main entrance. Further, paved roadways will delineate the varied burial sections and each section will be landscaped to provide additional beauty and serenity to the area.
Grand opening is targeted for 2010.
